South Florida Fairgrounds transforms from Fair to Frightening

Each year, hundreds of thou- sands of people look forward to the South Florida Fair in West Palm Beach, which kicks off next year on Janu- ary 13. This same location also has become known for providing chills and thrills as part of the Halloween scene

with its annual Fright Nights event, intended for older kids and adults who enjoy a heart- thumping experience, and Spookyville for younger children. Fright Nights, the largest

haunted attraction in South Florida, opened on Octo- ber 6 with a Behind the Scenes look for visitors who were curious how the event comes together. Fright Nights continued over the next three weekends and includ- ed a Monster Bash, a party for the cast, crew and public where people of all ages donned their best costumes and competed for prizes. Fright Nights featured four new haunted

In addition, guests enjoyed rides on the fami- ly-friendly “Monster Midway” and live entertainment that sideshows, local and

featured magic and regional bands and

food and beverages. For the first time, Fright Nights also

featured two Escape Rooms: Outbreak and Freakshow. Outbreak was set up as a lab that had released a deadly virus overrun by zombies and participants had one hour to find the cure. In Freakshow, the Smith’s Traveling Circus was back in town and someone was dead. Guests were advised to find the murderer before he found them. Spookyville took place over two weekends in October and on

Halloween. Designed as an old-fashioned Halloween event for the entire family, the kids collected goodies each day as part of their trick-or-treat experience and also participated in costume
