Pat Focuses on the faces behind our Local Businesses Leisa Geddes – Spanish Insurance

Since the age of 5, Leisa had been visiting her Grandad in Quesada for holidays and as she loved it so much she said she always knew she would end up living here. Sure enough 15 years ago she upped sticks and arrived in Quesada.

Quesada is a far cry from Wick up in Northern Scotland, where Leisa was born and lived until she was 12 years old when she moved to the less bleak and windy east coast, to a place called Forres.

She still lives in her grandad's old house, although sadly he is no longer with us, along with her 2 children, who were born and brought up here, her 2 dogs and 2 turtles, it sounds a bit like Noah's Ark!! Leisa's big passion is horses and she now owns a horse of her own (only 1 so it doesn't live in the Ark with her). She stables it in San Miguel and goes there riding as often as she can with her youngest son who also enjoys riding. After spending all day everyday talking with people either face to face or on the telephone, she finds riding gives her time to chill out and relax, and after working, looking after the boys and going to the stables it's no wonder she doesn´t have time to do anything else.

When Leisa first came to Spain she knew she would eventually have to find a job so when a job came up with a long time family friend Maria Jose who worked at Knights Insurance Leisa jumped at the opportunity. From there other opportunities have arrived within the insurance world and she ended up working for Vitalicio Seguros who later became Generali Spain who Leisa still works for now as the expat manager, with a close involvement in improving the services and products available to the expat market. The role of insurance offices has changed over the years and they now deal with, not just cars and house insurance, but pets, medical, funeral plans and funeral policies - in fact you name it and there is probably an insurance policy to cover it! Generali has 2 local expat offices in Quesada and La Zenia where 5 staff deal face to face with clients and 4 deal with all the paperwork in the background from Elche. The company itself employs over 700 people across their large network. Various languages such as English, Spanish, German, Swedish, Norweigan and Russian are spoken by their staff.

Leisa feels her children have had an amazing start to their lives living in Spain, and although they rarely visit Scotland now, they don't miss out on family as Leisa's mum often visits, and her brother lives just down the road in Rojales. Leisa has a very busy but exciting life here and loves the changes she has made. See Leisa's main advert on page 5.
