Redwood Writers Present

Santa Rosa, CA. ~ Amanda Mc- Tigue: The Writer’s Voice - Bring- ing Life to Words. Date: Novem- ber 13, 2016 2:30 PM - 4:30PM, Flamingo Hotel, Santa Rosa. $10. Why do agents, editors--and, most importantly, readers--reach for our writing? The answer we always hear is “voice,” a hard-to- defi ne and sometimes harder-to-develop authorial sound that distinguishes our work from all others’. But what do we mean by voice? How do we fi nd it, hone it? Amanda McTigue offers specifi c shifts of focus for all phases of our work (from drafting to editing) to help us develop an authentic, compelling and memo- rable voice on the page across all genres. For more information about Redwood Writers or this event, go to www.redwoodwriters.org.

VOICE JOKES & Humor # 3

A proud and confi dent genius makes a bet with a guy of average intelligence. The genius says, “Hey, every question I ask you that you don’t know the answer, you have to give me $5. And if you ask me a question and I can’t answer yours I will give you $5,000.” The guy says, “Okay.” The genius then asks, “How many continents are there in the world?” The guy doesn’t know and hands over the $5. The guy says, “Now I’ll ask: what animal stands with two legs but sleeps with three?” The genius tries and searches very hard for the answer but gives up and hands over the $5000. The genius says, “Dang it, I lost. By the way, what was the answer to your question?”

The guy hands over $5.
