Squire Patton Boggs Squire Patton Boggs has boosted its construction and engineering team in Birmingham with the promotion of Ray O’Connor to the partnership. Ray specialises in both


contentious and non-contentious aspects of engineering and construction matters, dealing with major infrastructure, rail, civil engineering, energy, PFI/PPP, development and building projects. He has worked as in-house counsel for a strategic development arm of a Middle East sovereign wealth fund. He has also worked on secondment for Bombardier Transportation in the UK and for a major developer in Qatar. Ray was also a member of the


Squire Patton Boggs team that advised Sumitomo/J Power Systems on the third power interconnector between the UK and Europe; a project worth £800 million. He said: “My promotion comes at

Cushman & Wakefield One of the West Midlands’ best- known residential property experts has joined the Birmingham office of leading real estate company Cushman & Wakefield. Eleanor Deeley has been named


head of residential at Cushman & Wakefield and build on a client base that includes the likes of Countryside, Redrow, Homes & Communities Agency, National Grid and Birmingham City Council. Eleanor was previously a director


at CBRE, in the firm’s residential and mixed use development team. She said of her new role: “I am delighted to be joining Cushman & Wakefield at a time of growth and am looking forward to growing the team.”

operational planning and delivery of exhibitions and live events taking place on the NEC site. “I have always had a strong


passion for live events so I jumped at the chance to work for the UK’s number one venue,” she said. “I am looking forward to working


closely with organisers to find innovative solutions to their event needs.” Victoria and Tasha will manage


allocated exhibitions and events, as well as assisting in the management and coordination of larger, more complex events. They will also act as the central


point of contact for clients and internal departments to ensure each event runs smoothly. Victoria previously worked as an


JLT Specialty Specialist insurance broker JLT Specialty’s Regional Risk Practice in Birmingham has promoted Gavin Lyons to team leader of its corporate account handlers. Gavin, who has been with the firm


for five years, will be responsible for the management and day-to-day running of a team of corporate account handlers and managing a portfolio of corporate clients. He said: “I am very pleased


about the new role as it will allow me the opportunity to ensure we provide first class service to our clients. Managing a team is a new challenge for me. It is a very exciting time to be part of the corporate team in Birmingham.”

Drayton Manor Park Drayton Manor Park has appointed Ben Ireson as trade sales manager. In his new role, Ben will look


after the needs of the coach, hotel and tour operator industries and be responsible for bringing visitors to the attraction via a variety of trade channels, as well as looking after the schools and group market. With a career spanning more


than 16 years, he brings with him a wealth of knowledge, having worked for companies such as Eurocamp, Keycamp, Hotetur, PGL and Merlin Entertainments. Ben said: “I have a real bug for


entertainment and sales, making Drayton Manor Park the perfect fit for me. I’m passionate about creating an amazing and more importantly fun, day out for our trade clients and customers and am really looking forward to getting stuck in.”

accountant with 20 years’ experience, joins Dains from the MCA Group where she was also director. She brings a wealth of
