A helping hand for start-up businesses
By Dan Harrison
Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce has launched a new start-up membership designed to help new businesses get off the ground. The new package, aimed at companies that
have been trading for less than a year, features all the benefits of a standard membership as well as access to 11 half-day workshops.
‘We have an enviable track record of quality business support provision which extends right across the West Midlands’
The start-up workshops offer expert advice on areas such as market research, marketing and promotion, financial forecasting, raising finance, legal requirements and employing people, legal structures, pricing structures and trends, selling skills, networking and social media.
Russell Jeans, director of membership and
business services at Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, said: “Start-up businesses play a critical role in the region’s economic development and Birmingham currently has the distinction of being a hotbed of new businesses, many of whom are making significant headlines in the national press. "To ensure those start-ups thrive and become
the oil in the engine of future growth, it is important we offer them effective support in these early stages of growth. We have an enviable track record of quality business support provision which extends right across the West Midlands. “Our delivery expertise is recognised by our
many partners and we are delighted that our new product is at the heart of Birmingham City University's provision, where it will be used to support their enterprising students." A start-up membership is priced at £240 per

with specialists in all major sectors including regeneration to be based in the hub. “During a period of economic uncertainty this
