The companieswill receive funding for the creation of a newwork.BruceWoodDance Project’s ($70,000), newworkwill be choreographed byBWDP companymember AlbertDrake,whowill create a piece tomusic composed by NewYork-basedmusic director JosephThalken,who per- formed at the company’sMistletoeMagic in 2015 (andwill return for that event in 2016). Theworld premierewill be held June 9- 10, 2017 atDallasCity PerformanceHall.DallasBlackDance Theatre’s ($30,000), newwork byMatthewRushing,New York-based rehearsal director forAlvinAileyAmerican DanceTheater,will be a collaborationwithNewYork jazz artistTedRosenthal.


DianaElizabethGallego recently resigned her positionwith theDallas Independent SchoolDistrict asCoordinator for Theatre andDance Programs.Her tenurewasmarked by signifi- cant growth in dance facultywithin the district.UnderGallego’s leadership, the district implemented theDISDDance Festival and SummerDance Intensive. Previously shewas on faculty at MolinaHigh School andGreinerExploratoryArtsAcademy.


DanielAlvardo, long-time folklorico dance facultymember at Dallas ISD’sGreinerExploratoryArtsAcademy, retired this past May.
