The charity market extremely popular ‘Reindeer Food’ – a magical mixture of glitter and oats that can be sprinkled in the garden on Christmas Eve to guide Santa’s sleigh to a safe landing.
AAH Pharmaceuticals and Age NI got together to help pharmacies raise £8759 for the Ulster Chemists’ Association’s charity partner Age NI
by distributing boxes of Reindeer Food to every pharmacy counter across Northern Ireland last year.

Sleep disturbances and their consequences can have considerable impacts on health. Drugs are labelled as sleep disturbing in patient information leaflets due to findings from clinical trials, but it’s unclear whether these drugs actually lead
‘Age NI share the same values as AAH and it has been great to join forces,’ said Steven Craig, National Sales Manager at AAH Pharmaceuticals NI. ‘They support the local older population focusing on health, care and independence, so it gave us the perfect opportunity to demonstrate our role in helping the community through healthcare services.
‘We are delighted at the total funds
to more sleep disorders -such as difficulties falling or staying asleep, or waking in the early morning - in the general population. In order to investigate this issue, Anna-Therese Lehnich, of the University of Duisburg- Essen in Germany, and her colleagues analysed information on 4,221 individuals aged 45 to 75 years.
Interviews revealed no clear links between drugs labelled as sleep disturbing with actual experiences of problems related to sleep.
