A Wilde night of mistaken identity

Curve’s Artistic Director, Nikolai Foster gives Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy, The Importance Of Being Earnest, a fresh and contemporary spin this September. Playing at Birmingham Repertory Theatre from 9 – 24 September, the play is regarded as one of the finest comedies in the English language. Bachelor Jack Worthing and his best friend Algernon Moncrieff hope to

marry society’s most eligible ladies, Gwendolen Fairfax and Cecily Cardew. But the men’s courtship of the women is far from straight forward! With double identities, handbag mishaps and hostile encounters with the

formidable Lady Bracknell, the pair become embroiled in a web of mistaken identities with hilarious consequences. Wilde’s play explodes with his trademark razor-sharp wit and is a brilliant

exploration of the hypocrisies of a society where what we see on the outside is very different from what lies beneath. Don’t miss this stylish contemporary spin on the classic and follow the charming pair as they discover “the vital importance of being earnest”.

For your chance to win a pair of tickets for the performance on Thursday 15 September at 7.30pm, simply answer the question below:

Send your answer with your name and address to s.cooke@birmingham- chamber.com by close of play on 22 July 2016.
