LIVE24SEVEN // Wining & Dining The Belfry EVERYTHING YOU NEED FOR FAMILY FUN
The Belfry Hotel & Resort is nestled in over 500 acres of idyllic countryside yet still just 20 minutes from Birmingham city centre and 10 minutes from Birmingham International Airport. Here to review the family offering of this popular resort, Tina Thomas-Bassett took two keen reviewers - Katie and Mollie, both aged 9.
The friendly receptionist handed us adults maps of the resort whilst the children had their own child friendly maps which they studied in depth. On the way to our room we took in the £26m refurbishment, which is very opulent and sophisticated in style – well thought through the hotel seems to flow so much easily than before.
FAMILY ROOM:
Perfect for a family of four, it provides all the space we could need to relax in style. The master room featured a sumptuous double sized bed, a huge dressing area, occasional chair and table. The girls entered their room via a connecting door and were thrilled to be met by two single beds each with a pink teddy bear placed on them to snuggle up with during the night… what a lovely touch. The girls felt perfectly at home and were soon unpacking their cases and filling the wardrobe. To complete our chill time in the room, there were 2 plasma screens, one in each room, and a selection of fine teas and coffees and magazines – Live 24-Seven prominently displayed! Ready for food, we headed out to ‘Sams Club House’ for lunch, the first of many experiences!
SAMS CLUB HOUSE:
The perfect place to take lunch with amazing views over the greens. Tuck into one of their famous double-stacked burgers, popcorn chicken sharers, or a simple classic from the light bites menu – we opted for pizzas and club sandwiches which were delicious.
Enormous screens allow you to catch up on all the sport you could hope for, or you can watch as the golf unfolds on the greens whilst during the summer months you can dine outside on the terrace and warm weary limbs alongside the fabulous glass fire pit.
Fed and watered, it was time to explore and the girls opted for the Woodland Walk first – a great way to walk off the fries!
WOODLAND WALK:
Situated in the woods adjacent to hotel, the Woodland Walk is an interactive adventure for families with young children. Take a walk on the wild side with den building, wildlife spotting and even a bug hotel! For those wishing to challenge themselves a little more, fitness obstacles are in place around a 2km course.
The girls had a fabulous time exploring the dens and looking / 74
for bugs – we even found a bee house which fascinated us all. We wore our wellies which was a good idea as the girls found mounds of earth to race up and a tug of war rope which created lots of laughter especially when I was pulled over! Located nearby is The Belfry’s brand new playground fully equipped with swings, a climbing obstacle course and slide providing hours of fun for youngsters!
After a fabulous hour of outdoor fun, we decided it was time to go indoors clean up and head to the luxurious pool area for a swim and maybe some downtime for us adults?
POOL:
Located in the leisure club, the spacious indoor pool area is the ideal spot for children to make a splash whilst the adults can immerse themselves in the Jacuzzi and sauna room. A perfect space for every member of the family as the Jacuzzi still affords birds eye view of the pool to keep an eye on the excited 9 year-olds.
Even the girls took time to relax on the beds around the pool, but that didn’t last for long as they could feel hunger pangs which meant time to shower and get ready for our evening meal.
After returning and dressing for the evening we headed down to Rocca’s Pizza Pasta Restaurant, one of three restaurants within the hotel and one we felt suited our group perfectly.
ROCCA’S PIZZA PASTA RESTAURANT
This family friendly Italian restaurant caters for all with a delicious menu selection of starters, home-made pizza and pasta dishes all made using the freshest and highest quality local produce. Open from 5.30pm Fridays and Saturdays and daily during the school and bank holidays it maintains a stylish
