LI VE 2 4 - SEVEN – THE MIDL ANDS PREMIER LUXURY LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE
Welcome to our July issue, which I hope finds you in a sunny disposition? I would like to share with you the most incredible day that I recently spent in the company of our old war heroes, the Chelsea Pensioners, at their ‘Founder’s Day’. Their medals shined up with pride, their uniforms looking so impressive, impeccably smart and their stories, which they took joy and also sad reflection in telling us, reconfirmed, as if there was any doubt, that we have a lot to thank them for. I was so very privileged and humbled to attend the event with my good friend and Live 24-Seven writer, Will Farmer. In her speech, HRH The Princess Royal also felt honoured to be there and I can’t tell you how many times I wiped tears from my eyes. Bless them all.
So July, time to start thinking about that holiday wardrobe, trying to forget about that latest diet that hasn’t quite dropped the stone you hoped for…or is that just me? Oh, and ensure everywhere is de-fuzzed and ready for the big reveal poolside. I recall packing for one holiday in my early twenties and, typically me, there was always something else that took priority like work or fun with friends, and on this one occasion it was a friend’s birthday drinks that went on late, so late in fact that I just had time to get in, throw things in a bag and head out for my early flight. Well, when I arrived in said resort and started to unpack, still whilst nursing my fragile head from the celebrations the night before, I realised that in my somewhat merry state I had packed the most random of things. My suitcase was more like a fancy dress closet – in fact I had packed a pair of angel wings that I’d worn to a fancy dress party the week before! What was I thinking? Oh yes, I wasn’t thinking! The holiday started with a shopping trip for wearable items. Now I tend to try to make at least an hour before my departure time for packing, running to the holiday side of my dressing room and pulling out at least a few stylish kaftans that can take you from pool to bar and even restaurant if you throw in the right jewellery.
