Gov’t Mule and Blackberry Smoke bringing us the badass Smokin’ Mule Tour; Gregg All- man and Peter Frampton team up in July; Lynyrd Skynyrd and Peter Framp- ton join forces in June and August; Heart, Cheap Trick, and Joan Jett & The Black Hearts tour the sheds July- September; Black Sabbath goes out on what is most likelytheir final tour through September. Pretty good run for a band whose members are all nearly 70 years of age, and then there’s Tony Iommi, who is syuffering the ef- fects of lymphoma... Springsteen has added more stadium dates; Guns n; Roses is hitting the road; and Axl Rose is double-dipping with AC/DC, as temporary substitute for vocalist Brian John- son, the long-time AC/DC frontman who was di- agnosed with a serious hearing issue. Those cute little Dixie Chicks are back with their DCX MMXVI World Tour, June - October. Steven Tyler heads out on a solo tour, and Sting joins Peter Gabriel on the Rock, Paper, Scissors tour. Get your pocketbook in order! And remember to HYDRATE! ... After weeks of speculation, classic rock’s biggest event since Woodstock has been confirmed. Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Roger Waters and the Who will play a fall concert at the Coachella site in Indio, Calif., called Desert Trip. The festival is set for Oct. 7-9 at the Empire Polo Field. The Stones and Dylan are featured on Friday; McCartney and Young – who is appearing with the band Promise of the Real – follow on Saturday; and


Desert Trip wraps up with Sunday-night per- formances by the Who and Waters. Visit DesertTrip.com... Local Ohio food vendors will be on hand, as well as local beer presented by the Ohio Craft Brewers Association in partnership with Thirsty Dog Brewing Company...


The name Notes from the Dashboard of My Truck was originally used by our editor, Michael B. Smith for a column in the Polk County (NC) News Joural in 1990. The name was created by the late John Calure. RIP.
