SOUTHERN ACCENTS A friend of mine was giving me a hard time

because I told him I like to listen to Don Imus in the morning, and Rush Limbaugh in the af- ternoon, and sometimes former Greenville DJ turned national talk show host Mike Gal- lagher. Of course, all of these guys are right wing conservative republicans, like the bulk of my friends. Well, probably 70 percent of ‘em. It all goes hand in hand with my work in- side the Southern Rock world. As for me, I never placed a tag on myself.

My grandpa was a staunch democrat, as well as both of my parents. I clearly remember their love for Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, and Bill Clinton. I had several relatives that leaned to the right. I always listened to all of the candidates, and made my decision to vote according to whomever seemed to have what it takes for the job. I liked Jimmy Carter. A lot. He was from the South and he was a fan of The Allman Brothers, Charlie Daniels and the Marshall Tucker Band. In fact, he has stated that those bands, along with his buddy Phil Walden at Capricorn Records, played a huge part in getting him into the White House. Now get this. I was also a Ronald Reagan

fan. Yes, I know! And if you are confused, check this out. I voted for Bill Clinton. Yep. It was his charisma, and his blowing sax on Sat- urday Night Live that grabbed my attention first. I thought he did a great job in the oral office. But I digress. Back to my friend who was

ragging me about listening to Imus and Rush. He is convinced that my listening to these guys rant is going to “turn me into a Republi- can.” Is that the same as listening to Marilyn Manson will send you to hell? (Hmmm. On second thought, maybe. ) Going to visit a

Catholic church will make you a Catholic, or a Baptist, or a Jehovah’s Witness. You get what I’m saying. I listen to these talking heads just for fun.

And the fact is, I have tried listening to liberal talk radio, and it bores me. At least these guys are passionate about their beliefs, whether I agree with them or not! As for 2016.... Pray for America!

So. What do you think? Who is the lesser of two evils? Who will you vote for? Will you write in a candidate? Bernie? Christie? Alice Cooper? Howard the Duck? Some have suggested Charlie Daniels.
