the war). Everyone is welcome to join us, even husbands! entrance is just £3 per person and this includes tea and cake.
We are also very keen to extend our membership so please any ladies of any age do come along to one of our meetings and find out about the WI. We are a friendly group who meet on the 3rd
Wednesday of every month at 2.15pm and we are much more than hats and pots of jam - hope to meet you soon!
Moorings Thank you for your good response
to my information about creek moorings in the last edition. I have had a number of contacts which have resulted in a take-up of all the spare moorings. However, I think one may still be available as nobody has yet crossed our sticky little palms with
their gelt, so we wait with bated breath for developments. We really should get out more!
Sunday Funday This year Kingswear Rowing
Club have decided not to hold a competitive rowing regatta. However a family day for the community will still take place on suNDAY sePTeMBeR 11th
on
Jubilee Park and in the Village Halls - so PLEASE put the date on your calendar! All the popular events will be organised. There will be games, activities and an entertainer for the children, the rowing club will show off their super new boats and take people out for taster rows; there will be a dog show, a classic car display, an owl display, the duck race, dancing to DJ somer and of course a bar and a variety of hot and cold food outlets for a ‘picnic in the park’. We also hope to offer a variety of stalls... and of course - the very popular eggathon!
We are holding an art competition for children on the theme of ‘Around Kingswear’. All entries will be displayed in the Lower Hall and prizes will be awarded for Pre-School, KS 1, Ks 2 and secondary pupils. Kingswear Parish Council will also select suitable artworks to be made into village signs.
Look out for a Pop up Tea Room in the Lower Hall in the afternoon and we have invited Dartmouth Rock Choir to perform for us! In the evening there will be a BBQ at The Ship with Colin promising to book a band to round off the day’s frivolities. The charities chosen to benefit this year are Shelterbox, Rowcroft and the Rowing Club. If you would like to help by offering your time, a raffle prize or sponsorship let us know! And if you would like to organise a stall we would also love to hear from you. Just email jan_cattell@
yahoo.co.uk for more information. And this year the weather will not defeat us... if there is another hurricane we will decamp to the Village Halls! so ... bring it on!
