Regatta The pretty town of


Salcombe celebrates its maritime heritage with a colourful regatta, this year from July 31 to August 6. The week is packed with things to do and watch, on and off the water, from sailing events and competitions; a magical torchlight procession and fireworks; and sandcastle and crabbing competitions. The regatta combines art, theatre and live music with traditional working boat races and rowing events.

Ways With Words For ten days Dartington Hall is full of words, books and ideas with the annual Ways With Words festival. On this 25th anniversary year there’s a stellar line-up including


many festival favourites. Shirley Williams, Melvyn Bragg, Roy Hattersley, Fay Weldon and Jonathan Dimbleby will be taking to the stage at the Great Hall along with many others.
