Wood is seeing a trend that buoys his excitement about Atlantic City and its future as a meetings and conventions hub. “Conventions are booking five years out, which is a very good signal for us thatAtlantic City is robust and healthy. Our 2015 numbers were up 39 percent over 2014 and we antici- pate a rise of 8-10 percent this
year.Advantages are new con- ference centers at both Harrah’s and Resorts. Plus, the Borgata is adding meeting space. This expanded square footage increases Atlantic City’s group footprint and market share.”
Many diverse organizations recognize the benefits of holding events in a town that is filled with resort properties. In addi- tion to the captivation of beach, boardwalk and ocean, Atlantic City presents a plethora of meeting organizer perquisites. A 28-page event planning guide covers every detail from pre-arrival to departure.
The 600,000-square foot Atlantic City Convention Center is the largest of its kind in New Jersey. It also includes 45 meet- ing rooms that combine for 109,100-square
feet.Attractions, entertainment, dining and other activities offer a wide range of choices to augment meetings, events and conventions. Support from the Meet AC staff always is available, as well.
“There is no better time than spring and summer to hold a meeting or convention in Atlantic City,” exclaims Wood. “We’re set to hostmore than 80 with an expected attendance of over 104,000 delegates. And,of course,we’re delighted the Miss America Pageant is home again. This iconic event,we have learned,is on the bucket list of quite a few women plan- ners who bring their daughters,” he concludes.
