I
as a registered pharmacist. From student days at Strathclyde - through to company positions at a very senior level and, relatively recently, as Superintendent at one of the largest community pharmacy companies operating across Great Britain. This is in addition to Board level
input to pharmacy practice and being heavily involved with all four negotiating bodies across the UK. In announcing the recipient, CPS
Chief Executive Officer Professor Harry McQuillan said of Ian, “His input to
an Cowan was the seventh recipient of the Outstanding Contribution to Pharmacy Practice
UK-wide service development cannot be underestimated. It is so important for CPS to be able to recognise people that have given their lifetime to the profession and showcase what these people really achieve.” Ian commented, “I am very humbled
and delighted to receive this, not just for myself but for the profession as a whole. This award demonstrates that age doesn’t matter, achievement is in the eyes of your peers and colleagues and the community you served.” Presenting the award was Bernard
Stottelaar, National Account Manager with EMIS Health, who said, “We have had people winning awards tonight that have been in pharmacy for over 50 years and people winning who have only entered the profession starting their journey. This is a fantastic chance to get young people excited about moving forward but also in recognising
those who have been established and had a longer career.We have enjoyed it tremendously.”
