The fi rst quarter of the year is always a busy time for all of us involved in pharmacy. At CPS we are negotiating our funding settlement with the Scottish Government for 16/17. I’m confi dent we will be able to reach an agreement to which will deliver stability for the pharmacy network for the year ahead.

This year we also have the Scottish Parliamentary Elections in May. The CPS Board and Executive have been working hard to ensure all political parties are aware of the important contribution Community Pharmacy makes to the Scottish NHS. We have attended party conferences and have met with all the major political parties in the last few months to highlight the messages contained within our manifesto.

At the end of February we had the Scottish Pharmacist Ball and Awards, which were again a success. I’d like to congratulate all the award winners and nominees. I hope the recognition you received on the night showed the high regard you are held in by your fellow professionals. I’d also like to give a special mention to Ian Cowan who spoke so well after his Outstanding Contribution to Pharmacy Practice Award. I’m sure everyone will agree the award was richly deserved.
