BED & BREAKFAST GETS RECOGNITION IN THIS YEAR’S GOOD HOTEL GUIDE

Newbegin House, Beverley’s only five-star B&B, has made it into the prestigious Good Hotel Guide for this year. Owners Walter and Nuala Sweeney attended a champagne reception at the Independent Hotel Show, where they received an Editor’s Choice Award as this year’s discovery.

Newbegin House is one of only two establishments in the whole of East Yorkshire and the only one in Beverley

to be included in the prestigious Guide. Mr Sweeney said: “We are very proud to be included in the Good Hotel Guide, which we use ourselves when looking for somewhere to stay.

“We are always striving to improve the accommodation and provide a warm welcome for our guests, whether they come for a mini-break from Hull or for a fortnight from Australia.”

The Good Hotel Guide is entirely independent and accepts no payments from hotels or B&Bs for inclusion.

Located 34 miles off the coast of Cape Fear, North Carolina, the Frying Pan Tower is a former US Coast Guard light station that was abandoned in the late 1970s. Auctioned off by the US government in 2010, the tower is now a fully functioning Bed & Breakfast. It may not boast a spa, fancy dining or swimming pool, but this one-of-a-kind Bed & Breakfast in the Atlantic Ocean’s hurricane alley has everything guests need when they’re looking for solitude.

Despite its remote location and only being accessible by boat or helicopter, the B&B has some home comforts, including hot showers, electricity, wifi and a kitchen with stainless steel appliances.

A visit to the Frying Pan Tower is an unforgettable experience and a way to truly get away from it all while enjoying the loneliness and endless views of the sea. With no other structure or land in sight, guests feel like they’re in the middle of nowhere as they gaze at the open water and take in spectacular sunrises and sunsets, and stunning displays as stars glitter in the night sky.
