jars to take home with them. Ironing usually takes up a large proportion of the afternoon and I take this opportunity to catch up on my latest audiobook. A visit to local farm shops, supermarkets and trips down to the chicken house usually see me through to late afternoon when I am due to meet and greet guests. The best part of the day is

N

orth Farm B&B is set in some of Shropshire’s most unspoilt countryside, yet this peaceful and tranquil bed and breakfast

is centrally located only 5 miles from the county town of Shrewsbury. A typical day at North Farm starts

at a fine time of 6am with a good, strong cup of tea whilst I check my emails and make plans for the days ac- tivities ahead. After an amazing 18 years of providing bed and breakfast, I have come to realise that there are very few days that are not fully occupied in pre- paring and planning the perfect stay. Breakfast would then need to be

prepared, tables are laid and guests are greeted for breakfast. This is often a very sociable event and one of my most favourite times of the day. Guests will often ask about local attractions to visit and chat about their plans for their day, here I sometimes learn of new places to visit with the family! After serving breakfast and

clearing away, the guest bedrooms are then serviced or changed; thus creating plentiful dreaded washing! Whilst I pray for sunshine to dry the sheets quickly, I make up a batch of my own homemade marmalade. I make this once or twice a week as guests often buy a couple of

undoubtedly meeting new and familiar faces and having a good natter! Whereas keeping up to date with the laundry has got to be the biggest chore, it’s very easy to drown in bedding! Ensuring our home is warm

and comfortable for all our guests is our number one priority. During the summer we offer refreshments outside in the garden and in the winter, we stock up the log burner for a cozy night in. Outside

of the guesthouse, I

enjoy visiting friends for a coffee in our favourite coffee shop in Shrewsbury. When I have free time I also enjoy swimming, there is nothing better than a good swim to clear away the cobwebs!
