you probably haven’t started your gift buying yet let alone finished it. So here is a quick list of gift ideas for all those Reiners in your life. If you are the only horsey person in your household, hand this over to your spouse, kids, parents, friends, etc. If you are one of those early birds who have already wrapped their gifts – I wish I was you – maybe this can provide you with ideas for next year.

• Subscription to a Magazine – there are lots to choose from: The Rider, Canadian Horse Journal, The Reiner, Quarter Horse News, West- ern Horse, Horse and Rider, AQHA Journal, etc. • Lessons with a Trainer – there are a number of trainers and coaches who have special packages and deals for the holidays. • Training Videos and Books – Inside Reining, Andrea Fappani, Shawn Flarida, etc. all have a training DVD series. So pick and choose or buy a package – I’ll take them all please! • Gift Certificate for the Farrier – come on … everyone likes getting shoes!!! So forgo the Jimmy Choo’s and talk to a farrier about a gift cer- tificate. If they don’t have one, make your own. Gifts that get creative • Deck the Halls - and their walls with equine artwork. Your own, a piece from a talented equine artist, or make it personal and purchase a show pic from our wonderful show photographers. • Picture Perfect – along the same lines as the above suggestion, sched- ule a photo shoot with a photographer. • Get Personal – with some personalized leather belts, spur straps, or a cool leather sign. • A Signature Look – make a custom sign for the farm, barn, truck, or stall. Not into crafts? There are a lot of companies out there that can design and/or make it for you. • Hair of the Horse – unique and beautiful, horse hair jewelry is incred- ibly popular and a great way to treasure our four-legged partners. • Giving Back – make spirits bright by donating to an equine rescue, charity, or other cause in your recipient’s name. • Rein & Train – not a shopper? No problem! I have a solution for you. Get all your gifts over with in one shot – host a clinic! Call a trainer, book a date, and give out invites as gifts. No wrapping required. Works great as end of the year barn parties too. • Membership – treat your loved one to an association membership! ORHA, NRHA, AQHA, etc. • Pay It Forward – nominate a foal. OBBO, NRHA, NRBC etc. Remember they expire soon, so get them in before Dec 31.
