2. I was one happy father in October when my daughter Jessica got married. Pictured are my girls Emily and Jessica.
imported Guinness, Hobgoblin, Stella Artois, Smithwicks or Boddingtons, or domestic beers are offered, canned, bottled or on tap, along with a couple of local offerings from Kitchesippi and Beau’s Lug Tread. I found the pricing competitive on the drinks and the meals. There is a little pub area where regulars are known to gather (some for as long as 25 years or more), and newcomers are always welcome; so you don’t need to be hungry to come by, just drop in for a wee pint or whatever you prefer. They open daily at 11:00
for lunch and close at 11:00, except for Sunday, when they close at 10 p.m. They host a number of events, including the Celtic Ensemble on the first Wednesday of each month and euchre the first Sunday of every month from 1-4 ($5 pp). A real treat is to drop in on the third Wednesday of the month to be entertained by Keith Glass, founding member, guitarist and songwriter of Prairie Oyster. To learn more visit their website:

4. I was able to take in some of the fall car shows. Pictured is the annual Metcalfe show that happens at the fair.
5. I know it’s hard to believe, but this is a pic of some of my buddies at the hunt camp soaking up the 22 degree weather in November. The hunting was slow, but we managed to get 2 bucks.
