A fantastic trip from start to finish and the fishing was outstanding; but go back to the very start of this trip. We flew to St. John’s, Newfoundland

on Thursday June 27, four days prior to our Labrador fishing trip, and we had planned a little sightseeing while we were in the province. After checking into the Hillview Terrace Apartments and Suites, I called a long- time friend of mine, Wally Westcott who lives in the area and he agreed to show us around the St. John’s area. We could be the tourists for the day. Unfortunately it was a little cool and foggy, but we drove to a lot of well-known landmarks. We checked out Signal Hill, where the first transatlantic wireless signal, the letter ‘S’ in Morse code, was received in


1901, Duckworth Street and the now famous George Street, where there are bars upon bars and where the Newfoundlanders and tourists party till the wee hours of the morning with every kind of entertainment you could imagine. We also took the drive to another breathtaking view of Middle Cove with its smooth stone beach just a short few miles from town, and to the town of Torbay, nestled along the coast. We finished our day with a drive to St. Phillips, which has an outstanding view of Bell Island. But more importantly, we sampled the best fish and chips you could ask for at the By The Beach Restaurant. We said our goodbyes to Wally with a promise to see him on return from our fishing trip. The next day, we were up early and began


our drive up to central Newfoundland by taking the scenic route along the Conception Bay highway. It hugs the coast with fabulous views and some unbelievable housing that folks are building, as Newfoundland becomes
