Fish For Life... Wins at Texas Holdem
Jim Holden, founder, welcomes the players at the Dana Point Yacht Club.
Jim Holden recognizes some of the special needs kids who have enjoyed a day fishing.
Pro athletes, celebrities, local politicians and businessmen suppported the effort. T
he Fifth Annual Fish for Life fundraising poker tournament was held on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Dana Point Yacht Club. More than 200 attendees helped to raise more than $20,000 for the cause. Fish 4 Life is a non-profit organization whose
goal is to enhance the lives of special needs individuals by inviting selected groups to enjoy a complimentary half-day fishing trip on the sea. The Texas Holdem tournament gave players the chance to compete with more than
a dozen NFL and MLB legends, including Rams QB Jim Everett, Angels’ pitcher Chuck Finley, QB Steve Beuerline, pitcher Jaret Wright, John Allred from the Steelers, and many others who donated their time to support the worthy cause. Registered players received a 3/4-day fishing trip from Dana Wharf Sportfishing and
final table players took home a pair of Rainbow sandals. There were gifts and prizes for first- through fifth-place winners including a three-night stay at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort, dinner at the Montage, a one-night stay at the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Doheny Beach and many other prizes. The next Texas Holdem tournament is tentatively scheduled for May. For more information, call 949.285.8819 or visit
