Young Community Pharmacist of the Year


PETER JOHNSTON Boots the Chemist, Dungannon


Peter is an enthusiastic young pharmacist who is dedicated to looking after the patients in his pharmacy and local community in Dungannon. He embraces the extended role of the Pharmacist and is passionate about service provision to patients that will allow them to manage their health and wellbeing. Although he has only been based in Boots Market Square, a busy town centre community pharmacy, for just over a year Peter is committed to helping patients to feel empowered and able manage their own health and wellbeing. He recognises that there are vulnerable individuals in all communities that may not be aware of, or have the confidence to utilise services in their local Pharmacy. He also believes that the role of the Pharmacist in helping patients within their local community does not have to be confined to the four walls of the pharmacy within which you work.


TIMOTHY McCLURE Pillbox Pharmacy, Irvinestown


Timothy works at PillBox pharmacy in Irvinestown. He is described as a young pharmacist who is passionate and dedicated within his profession. He gets on very well with patients and work colleagues alike and nothing is ever a problem or too big of an ask. He will go out of his way to help anyone both in and outside of his work environment work and will not be satisfied until he has achieved what has been asked. Timothy continually tries to improve services within the pharmacy. Pillbox pharmacy is a busy town pharmacy with five staff, offering many services including to nursing homes and Timothy has built up a great rapport with staff and customers of the pharmacy.


AARON COURTENAY Maghaberry Pharmacy


Aaron is a PhD student at Queens University Belfast having just commenced his second year. He continues to work for Maghaberry pharmacy as a Locum. He achieved his MScPharm in 2012, registered with PSNI In 2013 and started a PhD in 2013. Aaron takes delight and pride in both learning and aiding the learning of others. Aaron organised the first health promotion week at the pharmacy. He co-ordinated every element of the week including acquiring the equipment, booking people to attend, creating posters to advertise the event in local shops, the community centre and GP surgeries and on Facebook. The week was very successful with a significant number of people coming to the pharmacy for a health check. The week also served to promote the pharmacy and the role pharmacies have in helping people cope with ill health and maintaining good levels of personal health.
