Pharmacy Support Member of the Year


ISOBEL CRAIG Gibson’s Pharmacy, Limavady


Isobel, often referred to by colleagues and customers as ‘Bell’ has been working in Gibson’s pharmacy for 10 years. She is a trained Pharmacy assistant with responsibility for generic buying, and handling ordering of special dietary requirement products. Isobel deals with a large range of generic companies, and keeps abreast of pricing demands and constraints. With the increasing numbers of coeliac patients within the locality, she is well placed to deliver this patient population an excellent service. She has a large number of contacts within this dietary area and can locate a wide variety of products for these patients to try to vary their diet. Isobel is described as a valuable long-standing member of the Pharmacy team whose work with Coeliac patients has been invaluable.


VALERIE COOK Bradleys Pharmacy, Londonderry


Valerie has worked in pharmacy since the age of 16 and after 43 years in the same branch of Bradley’s Pharmacy she has a wealth of experience and knowledge. Valerie has undertaken, OTC medicines training, Pharmacy Technician qualifications, ACT qualifications and is a smoking cessation advisor. Even with her extensive knowledge she still attends all after work training opportunities and continues monthly training within the branch. Valerie is an exceptional individual who is a credit to the pharmacy profession. She is a very well-known member of the community surrounding the pharmacy, patients and customers regularly ask for Valerie’s advice and she gets more phone calls than the pharmacist on a daily basis! This shows the extent to the customer service that she provides and the trust and respect all the customers have for her.


PARVANA AGHAZADA Randalstown Pharmacy, Randalstown


Parvana has been a member of the Randalstown Pharmacy Team for 5 years. The value and expertise she has brought to the pharmacy in that time are ‘immeasurable.’ Parvana's main role is medicines counter assistant but her diverse skill mix and general enthusiasm for patient care often means her day to day role is extremely diverse. Parvana has contributed so much to the overall business over the past 5 years. She was able to translate all signage into lithiuan Russian Turkish Azerbaijan with the result that literally overnight people from such ethnic groups where presenting at the pharmacies requesting smoking cessation service, medicine compliance aids, allergy advice, cholesterol and blood pressure monitoring. The Support she provides to the Pharmacists accompanying in consultations, medicine use reviews and day to day advice is immense and gives the Pharmacists confidence that the patient has a clear understanding of the medicines they have been issued.
