BANNSIDE PHARMACY Portglenone
Bannside Pharmacy received funding from the National Pharmacy Association Health Education Foundation bursary and the Northern Health & Social Care Trust to provide a free 12-week Wellness and Weight Loss Programme for 100 participants in conjunction with the University of Ulster, Coleraine School of Pharmacy entitled Portglenone Gets Healthy! (PGH) from September - December 2014. The team are passionate about improving the health of the general public and facilitating the new Transforming your Care patient centred, holistic shift left paradigm in healthcare. They realise that for all their life saving benefits, they need to also look beyond medicines to improve the quality of life of all patients and especially those with Long Term Conditions, many of which are caused or worsened by modifiable lifestyle choices.
BOOTS THE CHEMIST LISBURN
Jayne Magee has led two highly successful Building the Community Pharmacy Projects (BCPP), one with the Downtown Centre in Lisburn and the other with the Resurgam Community Development Trust in the Hillhall area of Lisburn. These projects have really allowed Jayne to inspire and empower people to know which healthcare services are available to them and how they can manage their own health better. The project with the Downtown Centre has been established for a number of years and Jayne has also managed to secure funding for a further three years.
LLOYDSPHARMACY Sion Mills
Bronagh Connolly and the pharmacy team in LloydsPharmacy Sion Mills have worked in partnership with Autism Initiatives’ Northern Ireland for the past year, developing and delivering a programme of health education and promotion for young adults with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in rural areas. Bronagh and the team have identified a need in the local community by listening to their customers and colleagues and tackled a health inequality in a very specific and complex group of service users.
