Lehigh Valley Watershed Conference T


im Skelton, MDiv, MEd, and the Institute of Learning in Retirement of Cedar Crest College will presents a series of six workshops from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on consecutive Tuesdays between October 6 and November 10 to pres- ent a synthesis of scientific and metaphysical theory, including the latest understanding of reality and consciousness. Skelton says, “The tumultuous times we are in are best faced


with having the broadest understanding and latest information.” He has a background in theology, psychology and philosophy, and the course offers direction to the curious, quizzical and questioning via discussion and video. Topics include quantum physics, morphogenic fields, mind resonance, consciousness, water modalities, observer effects, sound and frequency, uni- fied consciousness, free will, mental disciplines, radiation and evolution, metaphor and symbol, power of intentions and more. Procedures and techniques are offered to assist in maintaining balance, harmony, inner peace and connectedness. The goal of the course to help participants be in the world, but not of it.

he sixth Lehigh Valley Water- shed Conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., October 13, at the Lehigh University STEPS Building, bringing together community watershed organiza- tions, municipal officials, educa- tors, students, scientists, technical experts, natural resource agency staff, industry representatives and the public to discuss effective ways to improve and protect the land and water re- sources throughout the greater Lehigh Valley. The conference will conclude with a networking reception from 4 to 5 p.m. This year’s conference is themed Freshwater Ecology, and will focus on understanding and protecting our freshwater environments and the organisms that live in them. New to this year’s conference is a landscaper’s track, with four sessions focused on environmentally sensitive landscaping practices for professional landscapers, with continuing education cred- its available. This year’s conference will also include half-day workshops on aquatic insect identification and working with publicly available information to build effective watershed geographic information systems.
