142 • Microscopes Primomic microscopes
The Primomic range is one of the most economical choices in our selection of microscopes. These microscopes are characterized by a nice finish and good precision. With continuously variable halogen-type illumination, and DIN-standard achromatic par focal objectives this microscope series provides good value for the money. The large mechanical stage has a steady, permanent traveser and low mounted coaxial controls, a design which is usually only found in larger and more expensive microscopes. The eyepiece tube is mounted at an angle on a revolving head and in addition, the binocular model has dioptric and interpupillary adjustment.
Magnification range/Objective type The Primomic series microscopes are available with either 60x objective or 100x objective as the highest magnification.
60x objective Magnifies 600x combined with a 10x eyepiece, and this magnification is usually satisfactory for most preparations used in basic microscope teaching. The 60x objective does not require immersion oil and is thus very suitable for student use.
100x objective Magnifies 1000x combined with a 10x eyepiece. Required to view very small specimens (like bacteria) in detail. Requires oil immersion, careful adjustment and thorough cleaning afterwards. Suitable for advanced users, teacher microscopes etc.
