130 • Atomic and nuclear physics Bench for experiments with radioactivity
This bench for radioactive sources and GM tubes provides a stable and convenient setup, allowing reproducible results when making experiments with radioactivity. Typical quantitative experiments comprises: absorption of gamma radiation in lead or aluminium, absorption of beta radiation in aluminium, variation of intensity with distance etc. The equipment consists of a 40 cm long bench with a tape measure, a saddle for mounting the GM tube and a mount for radioactive sources. Also provided is a set of absorber plates comprising: 5 ea. 2mm and 10 ea. 1 mm lead plates, 2 ea. 3 mm, 6 ea. 2 mm and 4 ea. 0.5 mm aluminium plates. The absorbers can be placed hanging from a Ø 6 mm steel rod, protruding from the source mount. The absorber plates are supplied in a convenient storage box. The lead plates have been enamelled to protect fingers from lead contamination.

2946.50 Good News: A wider range of sources can now be used with our equipment
Although A/S Frederiksen only provides the radioactive sources shown in this catalogue, other popular types can now be used with our equipment. The two new types are the 12 mm cylindrical sources (as provided by for instance Phywe and Leybold) - and the 25 mm disk sources (as provided by for instance Pasco and Spectrum Techniques). Please refer to the table below for the relevant item numbers
