Remembering Our Friend and Co-Worker, Lea Pipitone I

n 2009, Lea Hunt Pipitone joined the HomeAid Houston staff as the

director of marketing and special events. It was immediately apparent that her experience in her professional career, her inherent drive for perfection and attention to detail, and her spirit, enthusiasm and passion for HomeAid agencies and the clients they serve, made her an invaluable contributor to the agency. She also touched the lives of the Greater Houston Builders Association staff, board of directors and members.

Lea passed away on July 3 after a nine month long battle with neuroendocrine cancer. She never stopped fighting, she never gave up the hope that she would overcome this aggressive disease. She will be remembered for many things,

people to give and volunteer. She maintained and grew the relationship with the Houston Astros, partners with HomeAid on the project, and she worked on several other partnership events with the Astros, such as “Feast of Thanks” benefiting homeless families during Hunger and Homelessness Week in November.

Five successful golf tournament fundraisers: Again, Lea grew and perfected the event, raising more funds every year.

Lea initiated and grew “Corks for a Cause,” which became an annual wine pull fundraiser. Lea generated a whole new donor base through her own personal contacts.

Lea also helped initiate and grow another HomeAid annual fundraiser

Lea left her mark on HomeAid Houston and on all the people our organization touches. She leaves behind a legacy of excellence, creativity and purpose that all of us with HomeAid will try and carry forward. Lea will be dearly missed by all of us.

Lea also planned and successfully implemented numerous groundbreakings, dedications and vendor recruitment events.
