SUMMERTIME …… and the dining is easy!

There’s much more to Maidstone than the flotilla of fast food outlets which might catch your eye as you arrive in the town centre. And although it plays host to most of the popular chain eateries, it also has an ever-growing number of independent restaurants offering a wide range of cuisine from around the world.

There’s no better time to enjoy the birds and the boats on the River Medway at this time of year – and the suitably - named Embankment is perfectly placed for lapping up the summer sunshine while watching the world drift gently by.

The Cock Inn

The Cock Inn, Boughton Monchelsea, is a classic Elizabethan Inn with charming oak beams, inglenooks and wonky floors dating back to the 16th century. Just a short drive from the centre of Maidstone and four miles from Leeds Castle, the Cock Inn wins the hearts of all who visit.

The pub sources locally

produced ingredients but recipes are cooked using a twist on the traditional style. The Sunday roasts are legendary, as is the extensive fish menu. A cheeseboard with 10 cheeses and homemade desserts round off the choices and can be washed down with a good choice of ales, lagers and wines.
