Summer delights at GREAT COMP
The wonderfully romantic garden at Great Comp in Platt, near Sevenoaks, promises to delight this summer with a programme of events including outdoor theatre and a specialist plant show.
The seven-acre garden, which featured
recently on Gardener’s World, is open to visitors seven days a week from April to October. The formal borders and woodland pathways will provide a stunning backdrop for two nights of open-air theatre by The Changeling Theatre Group. An exciting production
of Shakespeare’s The Two Gentlemen of Verona will be performed on the great lawn and Hay Fever by Noel Coward will be performed in front of borders painted with colour.
The garden’s curator William Dyson
has won medals from RHS Chelsea and RHS Hampton Court and has lined up RHS award-winning specialist plant nurseries for The Summer Show, the garden’s biggest event of the year. Jazz and Pimms will be served at the two- day show in August.
With The Old Dairy Tearooms on site serving cream teas daily, this wonderfully quirky plantsman’s delight is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.
