Players Tee Off for Charity at HomeAid Annual Golf Tournament

rainy forecast didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the 124 players
who participated in HomeAid Houston’s 9th annual Charity Golf Tournament held at Tour 18. As tee time approached, the rain receded, and as good fortune follows great intentions, it held off throughout play. The tournament’s 31 teams, 20 volunteers and 57 sponsors helped raise over $64,000. A huge thank you to all who donated the variety of auction items that appealed to our very competitive bidders.
“HomeAid’s Charity Golf Tournament has become a legend among our many supporters,” said Chris Hawkins, chairman of the Golf Committee. “Even a forecast of rain couldn’t wash out the tournament. Our Golf Committee members, the volunteers and HomeAid’s Sheri Douglass, our new director of development, and Paige
Shugart, assistant director of operations and events, made this tournament an event to remember. It is a great way every year to raise much needed funds for Houston’s homeless community.”
Players enjoyed a continental breakfast, a putting contest, numerous door prizes, lunch and a chance to bid on a variety of items in the Silent Auction.
