APPOINTMENTS
John Kearney John Kearney, General Manager UK and Ireland at Amgen, took up post as President of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) last month, following his formal appointment at the Association’s Annual General Meeting. An economics graduate, John has been on the Board of the ABPI since 2008 where he has worked on a number of key initiatives including leading the Association’s pricing team in negotiations with the Department of Health to secure the 2014 PPRS. Jo hn has 35 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry – holding UK and international roles at GlaxoSmithKline and international roles at Pfi zer before joining Amgen in 2007. He replaces Jonathan Emms, former UK Managing Director of Pfi zer, who is relocating to the US following an internal promotion.
Professor Rose Marie Parr Professor Rose Marie Parr has been appointed as the Scottish Government’s new Chief Pharmaceutical Offi cer. Professor Parr has held the post of Director of Pharmacy at NHS Education for Scotland (NES) since its inception in April 2002 and has worked in the pharmaceutical profession since 1982. As Director of Pharmacy at NES, she was responsible for providing leadership, management and advice to the NES Board on all pharmacy educational matters. Professor Parr succeeds Professor Bill Scott, who retired on March 31, 2015. Professor Scott held the post of Chief Pharmaceutical Offi cer for 22 years and his leadership of the pharmacy profession in Scotland has been widely acknowledged by colleagues from around the UK and Europe.
Dr Ann-Marie Todd An NHS Tayside palliative care
specialist has been honoured with a Fellowship by the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust. Dr Ann-Marie Todd has been awarded the Fellowship to research educational opportunities for carers and to review current practice within palliative medicine, both in community settings and hospitals. During her Fellowship placement, Dr Todd will spend time with a team in Singapore who have developed a Palliative Caregivers Programme and also undertake work at Singapore’s National Cancer Centre.
Esther Roberton The Cabinet Secretary for Health,
Wellbeing and Sport has announced the appointment of a new Chair of the NHS 24 Board. Ms Esther Roberton has been a supporter and user of NHS 24 since its creation and believes it has a key role to play in the delivery of health and social care services in the future. Ms Roberton brings to the board signifi cant experience of governance as a non- executive director and chair in the public and third sectors, including as a former chair of NHS Fife. This is combined with her more recent experience and knowledge gained through membership of the board of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Dr Jacintha Sivarajah The ABPI has appointed Dr Jacintha Sivarajah as the Association’s new Head of Medical Affairs - reporting directly to ABPI’s Executive Research Medical and Innovation Director Dr Virginia Acha. In her most recent role Dr Sivarajah worked for GSK as Medical Affairs Manager of the haematology-Oncology team and prior to this worked as a Senior Medical Advisor supporting their haematology-oncology portfolio. Prior to joining GSK Dr Sivarajah worked for Sanofi for three years supporting their Cardiovascular, Thrombosis and Diabetes portfolios.
Mr George Black CBE The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing and Sport has announced the appointment of Mr George Black CBE as a new Member to the Healthcare Improvement Scotland Board. Mr Black retired in 2014 from his role as Chief Executive of Glasgow City Council which he held since 2003, having previously been the Council’s Director of Financial Services for four years.
