Dunblane High School

Eco Group

St Mary’s Primary School

Our new topic is “Adventures.” We went on a whole school trip to see Discovery at Dundee. It was a lovely sunny day and we all went on a bus.

We learnt that the captain of the ship was called Captain Scott and he was in charge. They all slept in bunk beds. Captain Scott had the biggest bedroom. We saw a big cupboard full

of stinky cheeses…yuck!

On the deck there were “Ankles Bashers” we didn’t like them because it hurt if you walked into them.

Hello! you may or may not have known that Dunblane High School has a new Eco committee that started in September 2014, and to help obtain our fi rst Green Flag and our Silver Eco Schools Award, we have decided to include a monthly update in theWire (we also have a page on the DHS website). We are going to be sharing new achievements and upcoming Eco events.

To kick things off DHS held it’s very own “Earth Hour” on the 27th of April. Pupils and Teachers were encouraged to switch off all electronics such as: computers, lights and even the projectors for the last period of the day. This event went fantastically well and almost the whole school took part!

The most recent event was

We did lots of activities which included a dressing up workshop. Alasdair looked like an explorer but he said the clothes were very itchy. The lady who helped us was called Elizabeth. We had an epic time…..

We have some other ideas for our adventure topic. We have been doing map reading so we don’t get lost. We have got some great ideas for Mrs Kinvig, a hunt in Laighills, toasting marshmallows in Holmehill and maybe a treasure hunt. I think we will all have to be very good for Mrs Kinvig!

46 By Phyllis and Eve P1/2 “clean up

Scotland” and in this event the S1 year group went

around Dunblane picking up any

litter they could fi nd whilst wearing (most willingly) their yellow high visibility vests! This event was also very successful and we hope that you even saw a small diff erence.

We have done many other things that we feel have made the world and our school a much healthier and better place. We also plan to do much more that will achieve great things. We hope you keep an eye out for all that we wish to bring to both our school and the wider community around us.
