competition news Horslyx to headline festival
Horslyx will be the title sponsor of the British Riding Clubs (BRC) Festival of the Horse in a new three year agreement for 2015, 2016 and 2017. In excess of 500 riders are expected to attend the Championship weekend which this season is at Aston– le–Walls, Daventry, on 30- 31 May.
The BRC Horslyx Festival of the
Horse celebrates the all-round Riding Club athlete, testing the horse and rider’s ability to negotiate a show jumping course together with a cross- country course. The Challenge consists of seven to ten show jumps followed by fifteen to twenty-five cross-country efforts, The Festival Challenge has sections for junior and senior team and individual
riders at 90 and 100cm, as well as a pair’s competition.
The second class - again for both senior and junior teams and individuals - is the Festival Combined Training. Riders compete in both a preliminary test and 75cm jumping course; or a novice test and an 85cm jumping course, meaning horses and riders must excel at both disciplines in order to succeed. Qualifiers are well underway with organisers already reporting record entries across the board. Rachael Hollely, BRC Competitions Manager is delighted: “It is fabulous to be working with Horslyx. Their support helps BRC to continue to offer high quality competitions to grassroots riders.”

British Dressage welcomes sponsors
These are exciting times for British Dressage - from medals on the world stage to the wave of new people taking part in Team Quest – the sport is enjoying a surge in popularity, and this is reflected by the healthy status of sponsorship support so essential to ensure full competition schedules can take place at every level.
Two key title sponsors remain in place and we all look forward to the NAF Five Star Winter Dressage Championships at Hartpury this month and the LeMieux National Dressage Championships at Stoneleigh in September. This is NAF’s sixth successive year as backer of the winter championships and LeMieux returns for its second year at the helm of the nationals in September.
If you qualify for any of the 2015 British Dressage Championships, we’d love to hear about you and your horse - so do get in touch by email - editorial@

Witness the Horseman’s Horseman!
Buck Brannaman, considered to be one of the worlds’ best and most experienced horse trainers, will be making his first visit to the UK in June, when he will travel to the Aintree Int. Equestrian Centre, Liverpool to participate in two clinics organised by Total Horsemanship. The inspiration for Nicholas Evans’ best-selling novel
The Horse Whisperer, and the subsequently successful film starring Robert Redford, Kirstin Scott Thomas and a young Scarlett Johansson, Buck Brannaman is renowned for being a phenomenal horseman and teacher who passes on his philosophies at clinics throughout the USA. His skill in the saddle, and with a rope, is matched only by
his ability to teach safe and effective horsemanship to riders of all abilities.
George Morris, Chef d’Equipe and Olympian for the US Show Jumping Team, says: “Buck is a horseman’s horseman, who is a world- class rider, teacher and trainer. The horse world, in general, cannot say enough about this man.”
Diary Date: 13th, 14th & 15th June at Aintree Int. Equestrian Centre, Ormskirk Road, Liverpool. L9 5AS. Doors open 7.45am – clinic starts at 9.00am. Spectator Tickets – Single Day Tickets - £45.00 & 3 Day Ticket - £120.00.
