LAGG AND KILMORY

became stranded in a severe gale. The five crew were all drowned and they were bur- ied in Kilmory churchyard. A replica figurehead now marks their graves in the burial ground. There is a real sense of com- munity in Kilmory. Despite losing their village shop more than two years ago the villag-

ers rallied together to open a post office in the village hall. Open throughout the year on a Monday and Friday the locals also offer cups of tea and coffee and home baking on these days for a small do- nation.

The village hall has become the centre of village life once again. Locals are now hoping

to be able to open a small vil- lage shop in the hall to pro- vide the large community with essential groceries. During the summer months the 1934 Social Club at Kil- mory Village Hall is often a venue for concerts and cei- lidhs and it is a great place to see the Arran community at its best.
