Expo Global keeps on growing The world’s biggest seafood event presents the best innovations to an ever expanding market

The world’s largest seafood trade exhibition will be held next month in Brussels, with the most innovative products, the latest equip- ment, the highest end technology and the


slickest branding on display. Last year, Seafood Expo Global and Seafood


Processing Global (formerly the European Seafood Exposition/Seafood Processing Europe) attracted more than 25,840 buyers and sellers in total, including visitors from 150 countries, and covered more than 35,000 square metres of exhibition space. Some 1,721 exhibiting companies from 77


countries showed their seafood products, equipment and services, and 75 countries were represented in national and regional pavilions, including new representations from Japan and Libya. This year’s three-day event promises to be


just as impressive, showcasing exhibitors who supply nearly every type of fish, seafood, and seafood-related product or service, in an environment acknowledged for its business and networking opportunities. The processing exhibition serves the European


and international market for seafood processing equipment, services, packaging and logistics, and there will be exhibitors specialising in everything from containers, live tanks, display cases, refrig- eration systems and cutting machinery to pack- aging, warehousing, cargo handling and storage. No other event in the world provides seafood

impressive nine per cent increase in visitor attendance over last year. ‘The continued growth shows that meeting face to face matters to the


seafood community, and that Brussels remains a central location for doing business in the global seafood industry.’ Exhibitor Pedro Lopez-Sors Alonso, general manager of marketing and


communications at the National Aquaculture Group, which has exhibited for seven years, said: ‘Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global is the best place in the industry to promote our company and products, bring awareness, sign up new customers and close deals.’ Among the highlights this year are exhibit categories representing every


aspect of seafood including: fresh, frozen, live, value-added, branded, and private label products. There will also be a range of seafood services and organisations. Country and regional pavilions will encompass the whole world, from Chile to China, Ireland to Indonesia, Norway to Nicaragua, and Turkey to Taiwan. Again this year, the 15th Seafood Prix d’Elite New Product Competition


will attract the best new seafood products of the year. The winners will be presented with their awards at a reception, open to all exhibitors and visi- tors, on Tuesday, April 21 (from 6.15pm to 8pm in Auditorium 2000), with prizes for originality, convenience, nutrition and packaging.
