Copefrito, which developed into a new hatch- ery, rearing and selling sea cucumbers, called Indian Ocean Trepang (IOT). IOT now produce juveniles for sale to the fishing families involved in Blue Ventures’ project. There are currently about 40 teams, with


around 100 people (another 250 are engaged in seaweed production), concentrated in two main villages, and Blue Ventures provides leadership, finding suitable habitats, training the farmers, training technicians, and designing the pens. They have received support from the EU and, for the past six years, from the Norwegian NGO, Norges Vel.
