Plea for return of stolen camper
A SNODLAND woman has launched an appeal for the return of a stolen camper van which she bought in memory of her late mother. Sara Gelder purchased the vehi-
cle, which she named Betsy, in 2010 with money she inherited from her 88-year-old mother Mary, who had died two years earlier. The camper, which was taken
from outside Sara’s home in Wil- lowside, was intended as a tribute to her mother’s wanderlust. Mary, who lived in America, named every vehicle she owned Betsy, and the van’s name followed the tradition. Sara (55) said the thought of Betsy
being gone brought back painful memories of the loss of Mary. She said: “She was a final gift from my mother. Getting her back would mean the world.” The vehicle, whichwas fitted with a wheel clamp, was taken just after
10pm and witnesses saw it being towed along Snodland High Street, towards Vigo. Police released CCTV images showing the stolen white Ford motor home being towed in the Snodland area. It has Roller Team written on the front and the vehicle registration number is GX03 ONF. Sgt Neil Finch said: “CCTV
showed the vehicle being towed by a dark-coloured vehicle – possibly a Landrover Freelander, Jeep Chero- kee or a Vauxhall Frontera – at 10.11pm on 27 January in Holbor- ough Road. Following behind is a VauxhallVitaro van, with sign writ- ing on the side, heading south along Holborough Road towards Consti- tution Hill.” Anyone with information should telephone police on 101, quoting crime report number YY/1880/15, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

THE first five businesses to win the Snodland Goes Cleaner Voluntary Lit- ter Code were presented with their certificates in the High Street. Launched in June last year, 45 businesses have signed up to the litter

Other businesses presented with their awards later were Zelda's Cafe, Snodland Shoe Repairs, Lillian Rose Florist, Andrew's Fish Bar and Pavil- ion Cafe. Brian Luker, Tonbridge and Malling Council's cabinet member for envi-
ronmental services, said: "By speaking directly to their customers, busi- nesses are encouraging people to dispose of their litter correctly.”
Vandals close adventure play area
AN indoor play area in Aylesford was forced to close after being ransacked by thieves who took the safe andweekend takings. Adventure Kidz, which occupies a unit in Wood Close at Quarry
Wood Retail Park, posted a message on Facebook that the centre had been broken into the previous night by “a group of scum- bags”.A notice on itswebsite said: “Due to a break-in Adventure Kidz will be closed until further notice. Please check the website and Facebook for updates. Sorry for any inconvenience.” A number of children’s parties had to be cancelled but owner Andrew Moody said the business would reopen as soon as possi- ble. The office was trashed but the main play area was not dam- aged.
Police investigating the incident examinedCCTVfootage for ev- idence.
