Town Talk Present thanks

SOUTH East Water, whose head office is in Snodland, donated £400 to Christmas in Snodland to- wards the presents Father Christ- mas gave to the children at his grotto in the Pavilion Cafe. The chairman of the town coun-

cil, Anne Moloney said: "We are very grateful to South East Water for their support. “It takes a year of hard work by

our volunteers to put the event to- gether, but it is worth it.We could- n't do it without the help of local businesses and our volunteers. This is a community event run by the community for the community. "It's lovely to see the children en-

joying themselves and families out together."

Crossing fee

MOTORISTS using the Dartford- Thurrock river crossing can pay at the Paper Makers Off Licence at 34 Constitution Hill, Snodland. People who do not cross the

river regularly and do not need to set up an account or do not want to go online can pay at the shop in advance of their journey or by midnight the following day. Roadworks to remove the pay-

ment booths and improve the road layout are taking place and are due to be completed in the spring.

Concert raises £1,500 to say thank you to hospice

AN audience of 200 people was entertained by local opera singer, Rachel Taylor, and the Harvel Singers and raised £1,500 for charity in memory of former Snod- land resident Betty Trott. The previous Town Talk re- ported that a festive concert was being held at the community cen- tre in aid of the Heart of Kent Hos- pice and Macmillan Cancer Support. Betty and David Trott moved

into Taylor Road in 1963 and cele- brated their diamond wedding in 2012. They both loved opera and classical music and David thought the concert would be a good way to thank the charities for support- ing Betty in her final months of life. David's granddaughter Emily Huxtable, a member of Harvel Singers, said the evening was a great success. "We received many compliments on the night and in cards and letters since congratu- lating the family on organising a fantastic evening." The Harvel Singers said "It was

an absolutely fantastic evening and our thanks go to the Trott

family who gave each member of the singing group a bag of Christ- mas goodies as a thank you." David said: "I would like to thank

all our friends and neighbours who helped and particularly our children. I know Betty would be very proud of them.” He quoted a friend of Betty’s

who wrote: “We and our friends enjoyed the evening very much. We appreciated the hard work you all put into it. Dear Betty would have loved the evening with the music she loved. I am sure she was with us in spirit.”
