Town Talk Patients work to

improve care A GROUP of patients is working with doctors and nurses at Snod- land Surgery in Catts Alley to give practical sup- port, improve communication and ensure that services are con- tinuously im- proved. From April

everyGP surgery in England will

have to have a patient participation group. The group in Snodland was started in 2011. Member Chris Bush (pictured)

said: "We need to ensure the pa- tients’ perspective is at the heart of local provision so that services are of high quality and are continu- ously improved. By working in unique partnership with our prac- tice we can build on mutual trust and respect for all." The surgery runs many clinics for chronic diseases such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease and COPD as well as services such as antena- tal and post-natal care, minor sur- gery, and contraception. Anybody interested in joining the

group should give their contact de- tails and a short statement of inter- est to the surgery.

THE building in Snodland High Street which housed chartered accountant Perrys has had a glamorous facelift to become Bow Hairdressing. The business has been set up by Debbie Batty

and Clare Codling, who used to work at Designer Tans in Malling Road. Debbie, who lives in Malling Road with husband

Steve and sons Ryan, Harry and Reece, also worked at Ralph's hairdressers in West Malling for 20 years, and Greta's, Snodland for seven years. She said: "I always wanted my own salon. I have

had my family and they have grown up. It is my turn to have a few dreams." Clare lives in Lenside Drive, Bearsted and has

two step-children. She started hairdressing as a Saturday girl at 13. “I told my dad then that I would own my own

salon one day and my dream has come true," she said. She worked at Rosscos, in Malling Road for 11

years before moving to Designer Tans. They plan to offer alternative therapies in a beauty salon at the premises from the end of March. David Lee and Kate Green, of May Street, Snodland rent upstairs rooms where they offer massages and yoga classes.

Cash-strapped art club may have to close

SNODLAND Community Art Club, which recently held a successful exhibition, faces closure due to lack of funding. Tonbridge and Malling Mayor Sasha Luck, and

Lyndsey Bennett, Tonbridge and Malling Council's senior leisure services officer were among the many visitors to Christ Church Hall, Malling Road to see work by members of the group, which was formed in April 2014 as part of the Beat Project. Members, many of whom had never painted be-

fore, spoke highly of their tutor, Nikki Dennington, who encouraged them to become more creative.
