January 17 Cartoon Workshop
Maidstone Museum & Bentlif Art Gallery Come and learn how to draw your own cartoon characters and produce a simple, fun comic strip story. Each participant will get a free cartoon portrait of themselves to take home. Steve Marchant is the UK’s best known cartooning tutor and has been teaching for more than 20 years. Janaury 17 – 18 The Medway Big Splash This is a weekend- long event showcasing aquatics and water-based activity sessions at all Medway’s swimming pools. All weekend activities are free and the three main elements include: The Medway Big Splash Pool Party at Hoo Pool, Medway Park, Splashes and Strood Sports Centre. Come and enjoy large pool inflatables, music, inflatable and raft games including an organised family gala with races and medals. Medway Big Splash is a mass participation activity session
programme for the weekend, where leisure pools will offer tasters, workouts and sporting swimming fun, including aqua zorbs, diving, water polo, aqua Zumba, lifesaving and more. The Medway Big Swim Challenge will run at all Medway’s
swimming pools, with the public coming together to amass lengths of the pools throughout the weekend, aiming to beat last year’s total of 5,828 lengths (91 miles). This is free to enter and each participant will receive a free Big Splash souvenir T-shirt, medal and certificate. Full programmes are available from

January 18
Medway Estuary In Winter, Lower Halstow, Sittingbourne, A three-hour guided walk from Halstow Dock, starting at 10am from the Lapwing Drive entrance to the Brickworks. Fairly level ground with some grassy paths but muddy after rain. Bring warm clothing and outdoor shoes. Dogs on leads welcome. This Kent Wildlife Trust event is organised by the Maidstone, Medway and Shepway group, led by Geoff Orton.
January 22-25
Jack and the Beanstalk, The Stag Theatre, Sevenoaks Sevenoaks Entertainers return for their annual family pantomime. Featuring a cast of more than 80, the Entertainers bring you this pantomime classic full to the brim with song, dance and laughter.
January 23 Health Walks in the High Weald, Battle Free walks take place every week, lasting no longer than an hour. Where possible, all walks have alternative routes to cater for wet weather or individual needs. No need to book, just turn up. Wear suitable footwear.
