century to the present day. More than 60 works from the National Portrait Gallery will be presented alongside key 20th-century and contemporary self-portraits from major public and private international collections. The exhibition features more than 100 artists. Free entry.
January 28 Taster concert, The Stag Theatre, Sevenoaks Enjoy this one-hour concert giving a taste of classical music in bite-sized pieces performed by the Sevenoaks Symphony Orchestra. The programme showcases Beethoven and Mozart in the finale to the famous 5th Symphony and "Jupiter" Symphony. The string section will play the slow movement from
Elgar's Serenade for Strings contrasting with the passion of Brahms' Hungarian Dance and the toe-tapping tunefulness of Strauss' Blue Danube Waltz. There is something here for all music-lovers and this concert is the perfect opportunity to experience the excitement of hearing a live symphony orchestra.
The £10 ticket price (£7 for students) includes a complementary glass of wine or soft drink which you may take into the theatre. Full programme details at
