Page 8 RURAL ARTS TOURING

When two actors turn up at our village hall with their musical instruments, a trunk, wig, indian headband and a hat, you’re not quite sure what you’re in for. What we had was a brilliant performance of “One Man and his Cow”, told in verse and song, the two actors playing all the parts. It was very, very, funny. We enjoyed it so much that we’re going to see their next show “Elizabeth 1: Virgin on the ridiculous”, at the Salberg Studio, Salisbury Playhouse in October. Highly recommended.

The next Rural Arts event in East Knoyle is The Yirdbards on 21st November.

SITUATION VACANT

This will be my swansong as promoter of Rural Arts for this village.

It’s been a privilege organising these events

in our village hall for the past six years. Hopefully you have all found something to your taste, high-brow, low- brow or challenging! Thank you to all the people who have been part of the team that makes these events possible. Would someone else like a turn as promoter? Come and talk to me and I’ll tell you all about it.

Event Thursday 14th August at 6.30pm

Meet locally based author Mark Boyden who will be talking about his new book Fatal Redemption co written with Double Pulitzer Prize Winner Lou Kilzer.

Fatal Redemption is a thrilling roller coaster ride into the dark underworlds of two continents. But when East clashes with West, it is not at all clear who are the good guys and who are the bad. The pace starts out hard and pounding and keeps accelerating until the two sides round corners and face each other head on. Fatal Redemption is also a tale of detection...as Sally and Lou race to unmask Mr. Wood. Before there is a resolution, the life of a US President will hang in the balance.

Great read! - Lou Kilzer's years as a prize winning investigative reporter and Mark Boyden's experience combine into a great page turner. The

protagonist Sally Will is no Miss Marple, the writing is gritty, exciting, and dead on. You no sooner hit one climax before you have to wipe the sweat off and dive back in for another. Susan Morris

Following the success of last year there is to be another Musical Evening in St. Mary’s Church in October. We saw many of East Knoyle’s residents entertaining us with songs, theatrics and instrumental talents. If you would like to take part as a soloist, a group, or as part of the choir please contact Louise on 832290.

EAST KNOYLE CHOIR

We're taking a summer break but will start next season with a social evening on Friday 29th August, 7.30 in the village hall. Thinking of joining?

The start of the new

season would be a good time to come along and meet us. No audition, no need to read music, ability to sing for fun is all that is required. Louise on 832290.

Everyone welcome. Contact
