The next meeting of the East Knoyle Free Thinkers Group will be on Wednesday 3rd September where we will be discussing - "The Insider Threat and the Role of Whistle Blowers".


We are looking forward to our 7th Moviola season in the Village Hall in September. The last Wednesdays in the month remain the key dates for your autumn diary as we bring the latest films to your very local venue: Wednesday 24th September, 29th October, 26th November and 17th December.


This year we have been able to have a new sound system installed and we are hoping it will improve the acoustic, which some of you have occasionally found rather trying.


Our autumn programme has yet to be confirmed, but we are hoping to start in September with the light-hearted comedy The Love Punch starring a terrific group of British actors led by Emma Thompson, Celia Imrie, Timothy Spall and Pierce Brosnan. A divorced but (relatively) amicable couple scheme to take revenge on the man who has cheated them of their retirement money. Much of it takes place in France and you can be assured that it’s a bit of a romp!


We are keeping the price of the tickets to £5, as they have been for 7 years since we started. So, we hope you will continue to support us and come to the Village Hall to enjoy a jolly evening of baked potatoes, glasses of wine, good companionship and- oh yes- a fun film.


We look forward very much to seeing you in September.


Big Tidy Up


Many thanks to all those who volunteered to help in "the Big Tidy Up" on 7th June, despite a really bad weather forecast. About 12 large sacks of litter were collected and disposed of from the parish highways and byways, so well done to all concerned.

"The Big Quiz Night"


In a change to the normal format we will be addressed by John Taylor a Director of an International Security and intelligence Consultancy. John lives in Fonthill Bishop and has worked for many years as a Diplomat for the UK Foreign office. John is the co-author of “Bad Apples" which looks at negative behaviour in the work- place and is currently working with Governments around the world to address the threats to security that come from within their organisations.
