Page 12 Ben Stow

Ben Stow has had the biggest win of his career in July when he won the English Open Stroke play Championships better known as the Brabazon Trophy. Ben's 14 under par 72 hole total included birdies on the last two holes to secure a one shot win over England Squad colleagues Ryan Moore and Ashley Chesters. The tournament was played at Seaton Carew near Hartlepool and has resulted in a call up to the 6 man England team for the European Team Championships in Finland and world Amateur ranking of 52 for the Underhill student.

Ben's final competitions before he returns to the USA to complete his college course are The English Amateur at Saunton, The European Championships at St Andrews and the Home Internationals being played at Southerndown near Bridgend 13th to 15th August.

The Village Website

The Village website (www.eastknoyle.org.uk) has been in existence in its present form for 3½ years.

During that time the number of people viewing the site on a regular basis has doubled, indicating that it has become an increasingly useful means for advertising events and communicating.... But it is not for everyone, and the village newsletter will doubtless continue for years to come. I am happy to continue updating the site whenever asked, although the actual content is very much up to the authors of articles, etc.

All I can do is encourage greater use of the site and update information on clubs and organisations as and when required. To illustrate the point if, for example, you want to know about the Village Hall, just look at the website, that is nearly always up to date.

Charles Cumberlege WANTED - VOLUNTEERS FOR WREN’S SHOP

We are looking for more villagers to help run our commu- nity shop. We need people to work behind the counter or in the shop helping with the operations; stock control, cleaning, opening and closing. Please come into Wren’s Shop during Post Office hours and talk to Janeen about signing up for 1 or more hours a week.

Village Flower and Vegetable Show in 2015?

We are currently in the process of determining whether there is sufficient support in the village for such an event next year. We would be grateful for any views (for or against) expressed via the leaflets available in Wren’s Shop.
