Page 14 The Garden Club

The visit to Corton Denham in June was a great success with access to a wonderful garden, built up and planted in a short space of time. The variety of trees was amazing and over an eleven year period some had grown to a great height. Mr. Odgers said he had planted 100 different species! The flower borders were beautiful with many types of roses and perennials. The walled vegetable garden was one to be coveted! Despite our pleas we were only a party of 9 and were lucky to be shown around as normally ten is the minimum number. Afterwards we had tea in the 'pub' just up the road and were able to sit in the sunny garden eating sticky slices of delicious "Ferrerro Rocher" cake. A very satisfactory outing.

Do you think that this write up might encourage YOU to join the Garden Club? Two days hence, Peter Treseder will be talking to us about bee keeping, something he has done for many years. On 10th September, in the village hall, we are having a talk on "Gardening for Climate Change".

If you wish to come on the

outing to Castle Gardens on the 30th July, to see the Illyria production of Macbeth.
