Wren’s Shop


Another anniversary has passed and we are now eight years old and looking forward and working behind the scenes to make our 10th anniversary year (2016) a special one.

Some frustrating and sad news is that we have had our Lottery machine taken away – this decision was not ours but forced on us by the Lottery head offices. We had apparently done well with our sales but despite being told there were no targets, we were told less than a year after installation that we had failed to meet them! Very frustrating. We will continue to handle the Health Lottery and you can buy your tickets during the Post Office opening hours.

We had a successful AGM last month. The accounts have been signed off for 2013. We made a small loss on paper due to investment in new equipment and some training costs but our wastage and overheads are being managed more efficiently than ever and we continue to run in the black.


The shop continues to increase our discount offerings. We currently offer a 5-10% discount on Prime Cuts meat orders along- side great deals on pet food, fruit and vegetables and we have now decided to offer “whole case discounts” on any food or household cupboard items that you order from us. This will save £’s on your shopping bill – keeping your shopping local and even better value.


If any of our younger inhabitants want some volunteer shop experi- ence over the summer holiday, please do not hesitate to contact Janeen. Also to anyone out there with a little spare time, we’d love to have you come and sign up for 1 or 2 (or more hours). Have a great summer and thanks for your on-going support.
