The Hardee County Fair By Lisa Hinton The Hardee County Fair exemplifies what Fairs are – the heart
and soul of the community. The Fair ran from Feb. 15th – 22nd and my husband Bob and I headed down that way on a beautiful Friday evening. What a great Fair! Being so close to home, I’m embarrassed to say that I hadn’t ever been to the Hardee County Fair and now that I’ve been I hope I don’t miss another one! One of the first things we saw as we pulled into Wauchula were
“I’m A Fair Sponsor” signs in yards throughout the community. Wow! What a great way to publicize your Fair and thank your sponsors at the same time. Meeting the Fair staff was the best part! Don’t you love it
when you meet people who love what they are doing and are excited and proud of their Fair!
It was an uplifting experience!
Terry Atchley, Fair President, escorted us around and introduced us to all the Board members and committee members we passed. Knowing how busy he was on a Friday night made me a little nervous about how much time he was spending with us but what a great opportunity to get to know more of our great “Fair Folks!” The Fair has done a great job with murals
– welcoming Fairgoers at the entrance to one of the buildings and decorating the out- side of buildings. Again, more of that local talent at work.
